Colonels fall to #2 Trinity 1-0
Playing against the #2 team in the country, the Centre College women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Trinity University in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) match, Friday, Oct. 20, in San Antonio, Texas.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in the SCAC, while Trinity remains unbeaten at 12-0-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
The first half was scoreless for much of the period. With just over five minutes left to play, Brianna Young, off an assist from Kate Simmer, found the back of the net for the match's lone goal.
Trinity out shot the Colonels 23-7 for the match and held a slight 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Rosie McAuley (Fairborn, Ohio) suffered the loss in goal for Centre. McAuley stopped five of the six shots she faced in the match.
Centre will return to action, Sunday, Oct. 22, when it travels to Georgetown, Texas to play Southwestern University. The SCAC match will start at 2 p.m. CST.
