Women's soccer earns two POW honors
In the second week of selections the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference has selected two Centre College Women's Soccer players for Player-of-the-Week honors on Sept 12.
Two sophomores, Kate Anderson (Louisville, KY) and Erin Menard (LaGrange, KY), were named defensive and offensive Players-of-the-Week respectively for games played through Sunday Sept. 10 2006.
Anderson, who did an excellent job playing the outside back position and communicating with the team, saw her hard work and efforts rewarded when Centre was given a penalty kick at the 40 minute mark of Saturday's match against Muskingum.
Her confidence showed as she buried the ball in the back of the net - giving the sophomore transfer her second goal of the year.
Menard, after being man-marked the entire game, broke through in the second half and posted her third goal of the season in Friday's 2-0 victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater.
On Saturday, she was able to find the back of the net twice to give the Colonels a 5-0 win over Muskingum. Menard now has five goals on the season and leads the team with 11 points.
