Menard earns another post-season honor
After being named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Team for the second time in two years, Centre College women's sophomore soccer player Erin Menard (Lagrange, Ky.) was named to the D3kicks.com All-Great Lakes Region First Team.
Menard is one of only seven players, and the only non-Trinity University or DePauw University player, from the SCAC to be named to the all-region first, second or third teams. The sophomore forward was named to the All-SCAC second team this year after scoring a team-high 15 goals with five assists for a team-high 35 points.
Menard, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas NCAA Division III Women's All-Great Lakes Region Second Team selection in 2005, also led the SCAC in points (35), points per game (1.94), goals (15) and goals per game (0.83).
"I am so proud of Erin and her efforts the past two years. This is a wonderful honor for her and the Centre College women's soccer team," Centre head coach Jay Hoffman said.
Hoffman has enjoyed working with Menard during her first two years and looks forward to seeing what she can accomplish in the future.
"It is the type of honor that fuels one to continue to train hard during the off-season. I know Erin will do just that," Hoffman continued.
This year marks the first year of existence for D3kicks.com, making this the first ever All-Regional Teams. Each region consists of a first, second and third team, with each team made up of a goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards.
