Women's Soccer News

In a match-up of two teams tied for second place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the Centre College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to DePauw University, Saturday, Oct. 28, in Danville, Ky.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 12-5 overall and 4-3 in the SCAC, while DePauw improves to 10-4 overall and 5-2 in league play. Centre has never beaten the Tigers and is now 0-9 in the series between the two teams with seven of the losses coming by shutout.

On a wet and sloppy field, DePauw's Mary Beth Robinson opened the scoring off a corner kick to put the Tigers ahead 1-0 at the 14:33 mark in the first period. Sarah Hile had the assist.

The score remained that way until the 72:29 mark in the second half when Robinson added an insurance goal, her second of the match, to seal the 2-0 win for the Tigers. Lindsay Lund notched the assist on the score.

Centre was out shot 13-6 for the match and DePauw held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Rosie McAuley (Fairborn, Ohio) suffered the loss in goal for the Colonels. McAuley made four saves in the defeat.

Centre will return to action, Friday, Nov. 3, when they host Austin College. The SCAC match will start at 7:30 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
