Anderson named SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week
For her efforts in two shutout victories over the weekend, Centre College women's soccer player Kate Anderson (Louisville, Ky.) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 7.
Anderson earned her first assist of the year Friday night in an 8-0 win over Millsaps College, which came on the game-winning goal by junior Allison Terry (Lexington, Ky.). More impressively, Anderson's leadership in the back prevented Millsaps from taking any shots in the game.
On Sunday, Anderson once again helped prevent any goals from being scored - this time by Birmingham-Southern’s attack in a 1-0 Centre win.
On the year, Anderson has helped to solidify the Colonels' defense and elevate the team’s play. To date, Centre has allowed only six goals in over 1,000 minutes of play, posting a goals-against average of 0.50 with seven shutouts.
Centre will be back in action, Friday, Oct. 12 against Sewanee-The University of the South in an SCAC contest in Sewanee, Tenn. The match will be played as part of a men's/women's doubleheader and is set to begin at 7 p.m. CST. |
