Women's Soccer News

Playing in its final home match of the season, the Centre College women's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout against Austin College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) match, Sunday, Oct. 28 in Danville, Ky.

With the win, the Colonels are now unbeaten in their last four matches and improve to 11-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the SCAC, while Austin falls to 6-6-4 overall and 1-4-2 in league action.

Just under 15 minutes into the first period, junior Lara Hebbeler (Park Hills, Ky.) scored her first goal of the season to put Centre ahead 1-0.

Later in the half, junior Erin Menard (Lagrange, Ky.) added another goal, her team-leading 10th of the season off an assist from junior Allison Terry (Lexington, Ky.) for a 2-0 lead.

The Colonels' defense limited Austin to only six shots on the day and only one corner kick compared to Centre's 13 shots and three corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Rosie McAuley (Fairborn, Ohio) earned the shutout win, stopping all three shots she faced.

Centre will wrap up its 2007 regular season Saturday, Nov. 3, with an SCAC match against DePauw University. The match will be played as part of a men's/women's doubleheader and will begin at 5 p.m. in Greencastle, Ind.
