Hubbard named to D3kicks' Team of the Week
After opening the season with a tough loss followed by a quality win, Centre College junior women's soccer player Lizzie Hubbard (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) has been named to the D3kicks Team of the Week for games played Monday, Aug. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 2.
Hubbard played a solid defensive game for the Colonels on Sunday afternoon against Ohio Northern University. Her distribution out of the back, strong play and ability to win the ball in the air helped the Colonels secure their first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over the Polar Bears.
Hubbard came to Centre as a sophomore after transferring from Georgia Southern University, a Division I member. The Colonels are hoping her confidence in the back will help to elevate their defensive play and solidify the defensive third of the field.
Centre will return to action Saturday, Sept. 8, when the travel to Lexington, Ky. to participate in the Transylvania University Showcase. The Colonels will open the Showcase against Allegheny College at 5:30 p.m.
