Washington downs Centre women's soccer team 1-0
For the second time this season, the Centre College women's soccer team was shut out by the score of 1-0, this time on a late goal against Washington University (Mo.), Sunday, Sept. 9 in Lexington, Ky. The match was played as part of the Transylvania Classic.
The first half was evenly played as both teams managed five shots apiece, while Washington held a slight 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
The second half saw much of the same, but with 7:20 left to play, Washington's Lauren Mehner hit the back of the net off a rebound for the game-winner.
Washington (4-0) out-shot the Colonels 9-7 for the match, while Centre owned a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Rosie McAuley (Fairborn, Ohio) was the tough luck loser, making four saves on the day.
Centre, now 2-2 on the year, will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 12, when it travels to Wilmore, Ky. to play Asbury College. The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. |
