Women's soccer blanks Dallas 3-0
One night after defeating Austin College, the Centre College women's soccer team returned one night later to defeat the University of Dallas 3-0 in a non-conference match Saturday, Oct. 3 in Danville, Ky.
The win ups the Colonels' overall record to 7-3-1, while Dallas falls to 3-7 overall.
Freshman Rachel Brannen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) scored her first career goal 22:16 into the first period off a penalty kick to give Centre a 1-0 lead.
An own goal early in the second period pushed the lead to 2-0. Senior Elizabeth Hooper (Arlington, Va.) capped the scoring with a goal at the 55:28 mark off an assist from senior Katherine MacMurray (Hilton Head Island, S.C.).
The Colonels controlled the match from start to finish out-shooting Dallas 24-1, while also posting an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Rosie McAuley (Fairborn, Ohio) and sophomore Kelli Lenz (Louisville, Ky.) combined in goal for the shutout.
Centre will next travel to Memphis, Tenn. to play Rhodes College. The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) match is set to start at 4 p.m. |
