Centre plays Denison to a 0-0 tie
Centre and Denison played to a 0-0 tie on Saturday, Sept. 19 in Danville, Ky. after neither team could find the back of the net after playing 110 minutes.
Defense was a key factor for both Centre and Denison. Both teams had opportunities to score with Centre getting 11 shots and Denison having eight chances.
Centre and Denison both had seven shots in the first half of play. The second half was a different story for both teams with neither team getting a shot off.
In the first overtime period the Colonels had a few chances to score with three shots. Denison again wasn't able to get a shot off and relied on the defense to take the game into double overtime. During the second overtime period both teams had a shot a piece on goal.
Junior Brittany Garr (Louisville, Ky.) had four shots in the game for the Colonels with three of them being shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Rosie McAuley (Fairborn, Ohio) had two saves during the match.
The Colonels had six corner kicks in the game compared to the Big Red's three.
Centre will open conference play in their next game when they take on Oglethorpe University on Friday, Sept. 25 in Atlanta, Ga. at 4:00 p.m.
