Women's Soccer News

Centre College freshman women's soccer player Amy Hebbeler (Ft. Wright, Ky.) wasted little time making an impact on her new team and for her efforts she was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for matches played Monday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 6.

Hebbeler came off the bench in all three wins for the Colonels during the week to contribute five goals in the team's opening week. In the season opener, on the road against Asbury College, Hebbeler posted three shots scoring twice before returning home for two matches over the weekend.

In those matches, she added three more goals to help Centre defeat both St. Mary's College and Heidelberg College and improve to 3-0.

Hebbeler while playing an average of just forty minutes a game still leads the SCAC in a number of different statistical categories early on in the ’09 season including shots (14), goals (5) and points (10).

Next up for Centre, will be a trip to Greencastle, Ind. to play Wittenberg University Saturday, Sept. 11. The match is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
