Colonels fall 1-0 to Wittenberg University at DePauw Classic
After starting the season on a three game winning streak the Colonels suffered their first loss to Wittenberg 1-0 on Friday, Sept. 11, in Greencastle, Ind. in their first of two games at the DePauw Classic.
Centre holds a record of 3-1 after the loss and Wittenberg moves to 2-0-2 on the year.
The match went scoreless for a majority of the match, until Mandi Clemons scored for Wittenberg in the 88th minute on as assist from Maureen Buckley to give the Tigers the game winning goal.
Wittenberg out shot Centre 10-4 in the game. Both teams had four shots in the first half, but in the second half the Centre defense had it's work cut out for them with the Tigers having six shots. Freshman Amy Hebbeler (Ft. Wright, Ky.) had two shots for the Colonels.
The Colonels next match will take place on Saturday, September 12 at 5:00 p.m. against Ohio Northern. Saturday's match is the Colonels second match at the DePauw Classic in Greencastle, Ind. |
