Colonels fall as DePauw extends win streak
DePauw, ranked third nationally, extended its school record winning streak to 29 games after sweeping the Colonels in a doubleheader this past Sunday winning the games 7-1 and 14-1 respectively.
The Colonels lost the first contest after only managing one run off of five hits. Senior Lindsey Willet ( Louisville , Ky. ) had a productive outing batting 2-3 while driving in the lone Colonel run. DePauw, on the other hand, was very proficient offensively driving in seven runs off of eleven hits to earn the 7-1 victory.
The second game saw the Colonels continue to struggle offensively, while DePauw continued flourish in the batter's box. Again, the Colonels were held to only one run off of five hits. Lindsey Willet continued to be a bright spot on offense, going 2-3 for the game. DePauw continued its offensive hot streak recording 14 runs off of 12 hits and pulling away from the Colonels to win the contest 14-1.
After finishing the day with an 0-2 record the Colonels sit at 12-16 for the season and 0-8 for SCAC conference play. The Colonels will take the field again this weekend in Sewanee , Tenn. looking to rebound from their four game losing streak as they face off against The University of the South.
