Hubbard named SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week
Julia Hubbard (Louisville, Ky.), a senior designated hitter for the Colonels, was selected the SCAC Softball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 7 through Sunday, April 13.
Hubbard had a huge weekend in helping Centre win four straight over the Sewanee Tigers in dominating fashioned. Hubbard was on fire offensively hitting .667 (10-15) with 13 runs driven in and while scoring 11 more.
Of her 10 hits, Hubbard had two doubles and three home runs, including two grand slams to finish with 21 total bases and a 1.400 slugging percentage.
In the opening doubleheader of the weekend, Hubbard was 5 for 6 with four runs scored and seven driven in. She then went 5 for 9 with seven runs scored and six driven in on Sunday.
Hubbard is now hitting .394 on the season, placing her sixth in the SCAC, and slugging .616 which is good enough for fifth in the conference. She also leads the Colonels with a team-high 30 runs batted in (tied for fourth in the SCAC). She has 11 doubles (tied for third in the SCAC) and three home runs (tied for seventh in the SCAC) among her 39 hits (tied for seventh in the SCAC).
Hubbard was not the only Colonel that excelled this past weekend. Centre, as a team, showed thier offensive skill in all weekend, ouscoring the Tigers 93-3. Now in the midst of a four game winning streak the Colonels record sits at 16-16 on the season and 4-8 in SCAC conference play.
