Centre Softball opens season 0-4

The Centre College softball team suffered losses against Coe College, Wilmington College, as well as two games versus Transylvania University while taking part in their opening weekend March Mayhem tournament.

In thier season opener against Transylvania, the Colonels struggled offensively, only managing four hits in the game. Transylvania scored 9 run on 8 hits to run away with the contest.

Following the Transylvania game, the Colonels took on Coe College. Against Coe College the Colonels offense continued it's stuggles. They were held without a hit as Coe went on to win it 9-0.

The Colonels offense finally began to show signs of life duing their third game in which they faced off against Wilmington College. The Colonels scored 7 runs off of 7 hits, yet were overtaken by Wilmington 8-7 in 9 innings.

For their final game of the weekend, the Colonels faced off with Transylvania University another time. While the Colonels improved offensively, the Transy bats were hot, batting in 20 runs. Unable to keep pace, the Colonels fell 20-5 bringing their record for the weekend to 0-4.

The Colonels look to get thier first wins this Friday, March 7th, in a double-header against Defiance with games at 6:00 and 8:00pm at Millenium Park.
