The Centre College Softball team won all four games against visiting Sewanee University on Saturday, April 11, in Danville, Ky. The Colonels are now 8-22 overall, 4-8 in the SCAC.

Centre and Sewanee decided to play the four game series in one day to prevent from playing on Easter Sunday. The Colonels managed to have quite a day at the park winning all four games doubling their season win total from four to eight.

The Colonels won the first game, 4-1, behind a strong pitching performance from junior Charlotte Jones (Lexington, Ky.). Jones went all seven innings only giving up one run off of four hits while striking out eight. Offensively, the Colonels were led by sophomore shortstop Taylor Childress (Nashville, Tenn.) and freshman center fielder Catelyn Teague (Bedford, Ky.). Childress was 2 for 3 with a triple, a run scored and Teague was 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, a run scored and a run batted in.

In the second game the Colonels used an eleven run first inning to cruise to a 26-2 win in five innings. Teague got the win on the mound for the Colonels by only giving up 2 runs off of four hits while striking out five. Centre banged out 26 runs off of 25 hits.

In the third game of the series cruised to an easy 13-0 win thanks to a seven run first inning. Sophomore Jess Jowers (Nashville, Tenn.) got the shut-out win on the mound for the Colonels, only giving up two hits. Childress continued to have an outstanding day at the plate going 3 for 3 with a triple, three runs scored and one run batted in. Freshman catcher Regina Sena (Moss Beach, Ca.) was 3 for 4 with a double, four runs batted in and three runs scored.

In the fourth and final game of the series Centre earned the sweep thanks to a 11-0 win. Teague again got the win for the Colonels throwing all five innings and only giving up three hits. Freshman Cailynn West (Los Angeles, Ca.) was 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Centre returns to action in a four game SCAC series this upcoming weekend against DePauw University at home. The series is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 18.
