Dean Brownley took over the Centre College swim team in 2001-02 after coaching at Campbellsville University for 8 years, where he built an NAIA national powerhouse. In his eight years coaching at Campbellsville he had 4 individual national champions, two Olympic qualifiers, 54 all-Americans, 42 honorable mention all- Americans, and his teams finished as high as 3rd in the country. He has also been conference coach of the year 4 times and National coach of the year in 1998.

Coach Brownley is utilizing his past experience and Centre’s strong tradition to bring the Colonels back into the national picture.

"One of the things that attracted me to Centre was the strong tradition for both academics as well as athletics. I will work hard recruiting the right student athletes that will meet our need both in the classroom and the pool.”

Coach Brownley is married and has three children. He and wife Jamie have two sons, Heath and Hogan and one daughter Regan.

Sarah Holman joins the Centre swim team in her first year as assistant coach. Holman is a 2002 graduate of Centre College with a degree in Psychology. During her time at Centre, Holman participated in swimming, cross country, and track and field. She was awarded most valuable runner and was captain of the cross country team her senior year.

In the fall of 1999, Holman took over as head coach of the Wilderness Trace YMCA Stingrays swim team in Danville. In her six years with the Stingrays, she has built the program to more than four times its original membership.

Coach Holman also spent two summers working as a counselor at Wolverine Swim Camp at the University of Michigan. During this time she worked with the University of Michigan staff in coaching swimmers from all over the United States. In the summer of 2004, Coach Holman helped Centre head coach Dean Brownley develop and run the first Colonel Swim Camp.

"During the past several years, I have immersed myself in studying technique and mechanics. With Coach Brownley's successful background in training, I believe our partnership will offer Colonel swimmers the necessary tools and support to continue building a highly competitive team."

Coach Holman married Travis Holman on May 15, 2004 .
