Swimming and Diving returns from New Jersey

The Centre College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams returned home from the Rowan Cup individual meet held at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey on Saturday Nov. 18.

The women's team did not place below third in every event except one the entire day. This included winning the 200 yard medley with the relay team of Alice Fleet (Franklin, TN), Caitlin Rhodes (Louisville, KY), Liz Starr (Westchester, OH), and Meredith Angel (Campbellsville, KY) with a time of 1:55.61. It also saw individual wins in the 500 yard freestyle by Sadie Allen (Omaha, NE) in 5:20.08, Meredith Angel in the 50 yard freestyle 25.23, and Liz Starr's first place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.58.

However, the winning did not stop there, Sadie Allen would also go on to win the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:01.33 and the 100 yard freestyle in 56.50. The day would end as it began with the relay team of Alice Fleet, Caitlin Rhodes, Liz Starr, and Meredith Angel winning the 400 yard medley in a time of 4:18.99

On the men's side there were several highlights as well. With individual wins by Will Jenkins (St Louis Park, MN) in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:02.26. Jenkins would also win the mixed1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:23.44.

There were also a multitude of second and third place finishes by the men's team, including, Michael Henry's (Maryville, TN) second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (57.19), Jimmy Tatgenhorst's (Knoxville, TN) third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (22.17), and Brad Erickson's (Owensboro, KY) second place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:02.96).

Centre will next travel to St Petersburg, Florida for their training trip. The team will be in Florida from December 2 until January 3, 2007.
