Women's swimming beats IUPUI and Butler, men fall to IUPUI
The Centre women's swimming team beat IUPUI and Butler, but the men would fall to IUPUI in the second meet of the season on Friday, Oct. 24th in Indianapolis, Ind.
Freshman Sandra Gregor (Itasca, Ill.) picked up the win for the Colonels in the women's 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:06.
Sophomore Colleen Maggard (Paris, Ky.) won in the women's 100 yard backstroke in 1:00. Maggard also picked up a win in the women's 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.89 and the women's 100 yard freestyle completing the race in 54.64..
Senior Meredith Angel helped the Colonels out with a first place victory in the women's 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11. Angel came in second place in the women's 50 yard freestyle finishing the race in 25.21.
Sophomore Laura Walton (Lexington, Ky.) took first in the 200 yard butterfly coming in at 2:18.
Freshman Chelsea Doyle (Moorestown, N.J.) picked up a victory in the women's 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:15.
Freshman Sandra Gregor (Itasca, Ill.) took first place in the women's 500 yard freestyle coming in at 5:27.
The Centre women also won the 400 yard freestyle relay. Angel, freshman Shannon Wofford (Fort Thomas, Ky.), sophomore Trinity Hockstetler (Orville, Ohio), and Maggard swam the race in 3:46.
Senior Will Jenkins (St. Louis Park, Minn.) won for the men in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.
Junior Hunter Owen (Knoxville, Tenn.) picked up another win for the Colonels in the men's 200 yard butterfly coming in at 2:04. Owen also won the men's 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.08.
Senior Hunter Hayes (Hopkinsville, Ky.) took first place in the men's one meter diving with a final score of 223. Hayes also won the three meter diving with a 255.55.
Centre swimming and diving will host their first meet in Danville, Ky. on Saturday, Oct. 24 as they take on Berea College and Bellarmine University. The meet will start at 1:00 p.m. in Boles Natatorium.
