Hays selected to All-SCAC Men's Tennis Team
In exclusive voting by the head coaches in the league, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) has named Centre College senior men's tennis player Lon Hays to the Honorable Mention Men's All-SCAC Tennis Team as released by the SCAC, Tuesday, May 15.
This is Hays' first postseason honor and the first for the Colonels since fellow senior Dan Schmidt (Lexington, Ky.) was named to the honorable mention team in 2005. Hays played #1 doubles and #3 singles for Centre during the year compiling an 11-5 singles record and a 9-5 mark in doubles action.
The senior helped lead the Colonels to a 9-7 record in 2007 and a fifth place finish in the SCAC Championships. During the SCAC Championships, Centre went 3-1 defeating Colorado College, Oglethorpe University and Southwestern University, while falling to eventual champion DePauw University. Hays finished 2-2 in double play and 3-1 in singles play during the championships.
