Men pick up win in Hilton Head tournament
The men's tennis team started their spring trip with an exciting 5-4 win over Elmhurst College played in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Ben Newstadt and Bareett Freeman squezzed out a victory at #1 doubles 9-7, but still the Colonels fell behind Elmhurst 2-1 after the doubles play. Newstadt and Brenton Deal quickly pulled out singles wins at #1 and #3 to put the Colonels on top 3-2. Tie breaker losses at #'s 4 and 5 put Centre behind again 4-3. Senior Barrett Freeman cruised at #2 singles 6-0, 6-0 to tie the score at 4 apiece. Freshman Micah Roberts sealed the win for Centre with a third set tie-breaker victory at #6 singles.
