Track & Field teams post season bests under the lights.
RICHMOND, Ky. - On April 20 the Centre College track & field teams were treated to nice weather under lights at the Eastern Kentucky Twilight meet. This marked the second time this season that the running Colonels competed against Division I programs. The result was fast times as the teams used the meet to prepare for next week's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
Ines Kevric (‘07) continued her breakout season with an outstanding fourth place finish in the 800 meter run. Her time (2:17:76) was a little under two tenths off of Centre's school record in that event. Her time ranks her first in the 800m for the latest conference standings. Kevric will get one more shot at the record next week at the SCAC championships. Eileen Schilling ('07) finished fourth in the 5,000 meter run with her third best time ( 18:41 ) of the season. There is little doubt that the two-time All-American will be ready for the heat and competition in next week's championships.
TC Thomason (‘09) was runner-up in the high jump (5'10”) which was his best placing for the season. The sophomore basketball player is in his first season with the track & field teams. Jason Parks ('10) set a new personal best in the 1500meter run ( 4:05 ) placing him in the top five for the latest conference championships. Parks was able to hold onto the lead pack, despite their blazingly fast efforts to gap the field early in the race. Brandon Lee ('09) finished fifth in the 400 intermediate hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00:97.
The Colonels will travel to San Antonio, Texas next weekend to compete in the SCAC championship.
