Niehaus adds Academic All-America to accomplishments
After recently competing at the U.S. Junior Track and Field National Championships, Centre College's Emily Niehaus (Maineville, Ohio) has added another honor to her already long list of accomplishments as she was named to the 2009 USTFCCCA Division III Women's All-Academic Track and Field Team.
The freshman thrower had a big freshman campaign for the Colonels breaking both the school record and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) record in the women's hammer throw and in the process was the conference champion in the event.
She then finished 10th out of 25 competitors at the U.S. Track and Field Junior National Championships with a throw of 159'11".
Niehaus also qualified for the NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships, where she finished eighth overall to earn All-America accolades.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. |
