Niehaus places 10th at U.S. Junior National Championships
Following a successful freshman campaign, Centre College's Emily Niehaus (Maineville, Ohio) placed 10th in the women's hammer throw at the U.S. Track and Field Junior National Championships, Friday, June 26, in Eugene, Ore.
Niehaus, who was invited to the meet due to her efforts in the spring, finished 10th out of 25 competitors with a throw of 159'11".
The freshman thrower had a big freshman campaign for the Colonels breaking both the school record and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) record in the women's hammer throw and in the process was the conference champion in the event.
Niehaus also qualified for the NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships, where she finished eighth overall to earn All-America accolades. |
