On the first day of the Centre College Halloween Bash, the Centre volleyball team won a pair of matches, defeating both Piedmont College and Wilmington College, Saturday, Oct. 28, in Danville, Ky.

The Colonels opened the day defeating Piedmont in three games, 30-19, 30-25, 30-20. Junior Sarah Burger (Goshen, Ky.) tallied 15 kills and two blocks to lead the Colonels. Freshman Kelly McCoy (Lewisville, Texas) posted 10 kills and three blocks.

Senior Kate Bennett (Louisville, Ky.) notched 28 assists and five service aces and senior Megan McElveen (Cold Spring, Ky.) added nine digs in the win.

In its second match of the day, the Colonels defeated Wilmington in three games 30-19, 30-13, 30-23. Burger again led Centre in kills with 10, while adding three blocks. Bennett had 18 assists. McElveen recorded 14 digs and four service aces and senior Ellie Exner (Durham, N.C.) chipped in eight digs and four service aces.

Centre, now 15-19 overall, will return to action, Sunday, Oct. 29 for day two of the Bash. The Colonels will open the day against the College of Mount St. Joseph and then play again later in the day.
