Centre volleyball wins one, loses one
For the second straight day, the Centre volleyball team split a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches, defeating Millsaps College before falling to Trinity University at the SCAC Cross Divisional #1, Saturday, Oct. 7, in Georgetown, Texas.
The Colonels defeated Millsaps in four games, winning 30-32, 30-23, 30-16, 30-28. Junior Sarah Burger (Goshen, Ky.) tallied 13 kills to lead Centre. Senior Kate Bennett (Louisville, Ky.) added 31 assists. Senior Megan McElveen (Cold Spring, Ky.) posed 14 digs, and senior Ellie Exner (Durham, N.C.) chipped in 13 digs.
The Colonels fell in three games to Trinity in their final match of the day, losing 30-16, 30-20, 30-26. Burger again led Centre with 13 kills. Bennett posted 25 assists. McElveen had 10 digs and freshman Megan Gatewood (Louisville, Ky.) notched eight kills in the defeat.
Centre, now 10-13 overall and 3-5 in SCAC play, will wrap up Cross Divisional play, Sunday, Oct. 8, when it plays Austin College. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. CST, in Georgetown, Texas.
