Centre puts two on all-SCAC volleyball team

Centre College volleyball players Sarah Burger (Goshen, Ky.) and Kate Bennett (Louisville, Ky.) have been named to the all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) team in an exclusive voting done by the league's head coaches.
Burger, a junior outside hitter, was named to the second team, while Bennett, a senior setter/opposite hitter, was named to the third team. The selection to the team marks the second time Burger has been named to the second team. She was a first-team selection in 2005. Bennett's selection to the third team is her second of her career, as she was a third team selection in 2003.
Burger led the Colonels in both hitting percentage (.271) and kills (4.01). The junior ranked 12th in the SCAC in hitting percentage, while tying for the most kills (134) in the league and owning the second highest kills per game average.
Bennett paced Centre in assists (1,102) and service aces (71). Her 7.93 assists per game were good for eighth in the conference, while her 0.51 service aces per game rank her 10th in the SCAC this year.
"This is a great honor for both Sarah and Kate. Being named to the SCAC all-conference team is very difficult and it is indicative of how hard they play," Centre head coach James Neyhouse said.
"Kate will be missed next year and she will leave a big role for someone to fill," Neyhouse added.
Centre ended its season with an 18-24 overall record and 7-11 conference mark to finish sixth out of 10 teams in the SCAC.
