Senior Sarah Burger ends career on high note
Centre College senior volleyball player Sarah Burger (Goshen, Ky.) finished her four-year volleyball career at Centre by being named to her fourth consecutive All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Team as selected by the league's head coaches.
Burger was named to the all-SCAC First Team for the third time in four years after finishing second in the league in kills per game with 4.49 and third in the SCAC in hitting efficiency at .340. The senior middle hitter, who was a Second Team selection in 2006, ended the season with 615 kills, 33 service aces, 224 digs and 143 total blocks.
For her career, Burger has amassed 2,193 kills, which places her second all-time for career kills in conference history; just 29 shy of the record. She is the career kill record holder at Centre and also owns the top four spots for kills in a season.
Burger's name also appears on the Centre career record books for hitting efficiency (first all-time) and blocks (second all-time). She had an overall hitting efficiency of .333 over her four years while blocking 422 shots during the same time span.
The Colonels ended the season with an 18-21 overall record and a 6-9 mark in the SCAC, finishing seventh in the inaugural SCAC Tournament.
