Centre sweeps Maryville in three games
With a great team defense and strong hitting the Colonels easily picked up a non-conference win defeating Maryville College in a rare mid-week contest Wednesday, Oct. 17 in Danville, Ky.
Contributing on Defense were Laura Broughton, Megan Gatewood, Alex Headley who had 15 digs six digs and 10 digs respectively. Also contributing defensively were Sarah Burger who had six blocks along with Layla Marefat, Kelly McCoy, and Lindsay Smith who all added 2 blocks to the team effort.
Offensively Centre had one of it's best nights in recent history hitting an outstanding .283 as a team. Leading the way for the Colonels was senior Sarah Burger who had 18 kills and a .556 hitting efficiency. Alex Headley chipped in eight kills for a .208 hitting efficiency, while Lindsay Smith was able to add six kills on the night.
Next up for the Centre College Volleyball Team will be the final regular season conference tournament that will be held at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana Oct 20 and 21. The Colonels will open with Millsaps on Saturday at noon. |
