Volleyball team falls to Maryville in four games
Playing for the second time this season, the Centre College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Maryville College (Tenn.) in a mid-week non-conference match Wednesday, Oct. 15 in Maryville, Tenn.
After splitting the first two games falling 25-15 in game one and winning game two 26-24, the Colonels dropped the last two straight to lose in four games 25-9, 25-23.
Freshman Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) led Centre with 13 kills and three blocks. Freshman Sarah Bennett (Louisville, Ky.) had nine kills. Sophomore Ashton Hupman (Lexington, Ky.) added eight kills. Junior Laura Broughton (Lexington, Ky.) notched 17 digs and junior Megan Gatewood (Louisville, Ky.) posted 14 digs in the defeat.
The Colonels fell to Maryville earlier this year in three games at the Hanover College Invitational.
Centre, now 12-13 overall, will next travel to Georgetown, Texas, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 17-18 for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Divisional #3. The Colonels will open against Southwestern University Friday at 2 p.m. CST followed by a match against Austin College at 6 p.m. CST. |
