Volleyball News

The Centre College Volleyball team split its pair of SCAC matches, falling to Rhodes 3-1 and defeating Hendrix 3-1, at the SCAC cross-divisional hosted by Millsaps College on Saturday, Oct. 4th. The Colonels are now 11-11 on the year and 2-4 in the SCAC.

The Colonels fell to Rhodes in the first match of the day, 3-1 (22-25, 17-25, 25-16, 21-15). Despite the loss the Colonels received stand-out play from Ashton Hupman (Lexington, Ky.), Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.), Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) and Laura Broughton (Lexington, Ky.). Both Hupman and Woeste had 11 kills. Greer recorded 40 assists and Broughton had 18 digs and 5 aces.

The Colonels bounced back in the second match of the day defeating Hendrix College, 3-1 (16-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-13). The Colonels again received stand-out play from Hupman, Woeste, Greer and Broughton. Hupman had 12 kills while Woeste had 10 kills. Greer recorded 42 assists and Broughton had 26 digs. Laura Hench (Lexington, Ky.) also played well in the win with 18 digs.

The Colonels return to SCAC conference play tomorrow in a pair of matches. The first match of the day will be against Birmingham Southern at 9:00 am CST.
