Volleyball News

After recognizing its seven seniors, the Centre College volleyball team defeated Asbury College 3-0 on Senior Night Wednesday, Oct. 28 in Alumni Gymnasium in Danville, Ky.

The Colonels improve to 19-11 overall, while Asbury falls to 18-12 on the year.

Centre won the first two games by the same 25-21 score and then needed an extra point to defeat the Eagles 26-24 in game three for the sweep.

Seniors Alex Headley (Owensboro, Ky.) and Kelly McCoy (Lewisville, Texas) paced the Colonels. Headley notched 11 kills and McCoy added eight kills.

Sophomore Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) tallied 18 assists. Senior Mary Brieschke (Ann Arbor, Mich.) notched 12 assists. Senior Laura Broughton (Lexington, Ky.) had 18 digs and sophomore Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Ashton Hupman (Lexington, Ky.) recorded five and 3.5 blocks respectively in the win.

Up next for Centre is its annual Halloween Bash Saturday, Oct. 31. The Colonels will open against Thomas More College at 11 a.m. and then play host to Maryville College at 3 p.m. in Alumni Gymnasium in Danville, Ky.
