Volleyball wins two on first day of the SCAC East/Central Divisional
Centre beat Birmingham-Southern College and Hendrix College on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the SCAC East/Central Divisional in Danville, Ky. The Colonels would beat the Panthers 3-2 and the Warriors 3-0.
In Centre's first match of the day the Colonels would drop the first game, 25-16, before coming back and winning the next two games, 25-13 and 30-28. Birmingham-Southern would tie the match up at two games a piece after they won the fourth game 25-18. Centre came back in the fifth game to win the match as they beat the Panthers 15-11.
Sophomore Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) had a terrific game as she had 14 kills, 3.5 blocks, and three aces. Sophomore Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) also had a great game as she recorded 21 assists and 12 digs. Senior Laura Broughton (Lexington, Ky.) led the Colonels in digs with 15 and junior Ashton Hupman (Lexington, Ky.) would provide Centre with four blocks.
Centre carried the momentum into their game against Hendrix, as they would sweep the Warriors in three games 25-15, 25-23, and 25-12.
Hupman stepped up in the game against Hendrix as she would lead the Colonels in kills with nine and blocks with two. Greer helped carry Centre to the win as she would post 14 assist and three aces. Broughton didn't back down in the game as she once again led the Colonels in digs with 11, along with Woeste.
Centre will play on Sunday, Oct. 25 in day two of the SCAC East/Central Divisional in Danville, Ky. The Colonels will take on Millsaps College at 11:00 a.m. |
