The Centre College volleyball team got into the win column in a big way defeating both Franklin College and Baldwin Wallace College on the first day of the Kalamazoo College Invitational Saturday, Sept. 5 in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The Colonels opened the day defeating Franklin College 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-16). Sophomore Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) had eight kills and 2.5 blocks. Senior Laura Broughton (Lexington, Ky.) tallied 12 digs. Senior Mary Brieschke (Ann Arbor, Mich.) notched 12 assists and junior Rebecca Pugh (Colfax, Calif.) added two service aces.

Centre also defeated Baldwin Wallace in three games. The Colonels needed extra points in game one, but won that one 27-25 before winning 25-15 and 25-20 in the final two.

Sophomore Laura Hench (Lexington, Ky.) led the team with 10 kills. Woeste had 4.5 blocks. Broughton had 14 digs and sophomore Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) tallied 14 assists and three service aces.

Centre will look to continue its momentum in the early going Sunday, Sept. 6 with matches against host Kalamazoo (10 a.m.) and Olivet College (12 p.m.) in Kalamazoo, Mich.
