Colonels beat Sewanee and Hendrix at SCAC East/Central Divisional
The Centre College volleyball team got back in the win column with two wins on Saturday, Oct. 3 during the first day of the East/West Divisional, which is hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
Centre defeated Sewanee in the first match beating the Tigers in three games, 25-14, 25-12, 25-17.
Senior Alex Headley (Owensboro, Ky.) had nine kills and 10 digs on the night. Senior Mary Brieschke (Ann Arbor, Mich.) provided Centre with 19 assists and Senior Laura Broughton (Lexington, Ky.) led the Colonels in digs with 16 and also recorded three aces.
In Centre's second match the Colonels prevailed over Hendrix College in three games winning 25-14, 25-12, and 25-17.
Senior Kelly McCoy (Lewisville, Texas) and Ashton Hupman (Lexington, Ky.) both had 7 kills in the win. Hupman also recorded 3.5 blocks.
Brieschke had a big second game picking up 14 assists and Broughton also played well in the Hendrix game by registering 14 digs for the Colonels.
Centre will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 4 for the second day of the Divisional. The Colonels will play host Rhodes at 11:00 a.m. in Memphis, Tenn. |
