Francis F. Maury
Professor of Latin and Greek Languages (1821-1822)

Little is known of this early member of faculty. In 1820 the Trustees permitted Maury to open a grammar school in the new College Ediface (Old Centre). In March 1821 the Trustees appointed him Professor of Latin and Greek Languages for the upcoming academic year at a salary of $1,000. Maury only taught for the 1821-22 year, and then disappears from the record.
