Date Built: 2008
Architect: Hastings and Chivetta
Current Use: Student residence hall
During homecoming festivities in 2005, plans were announced for the construction of a new residence hall. In August 2008, Pearl Hall first opened, with the dedication of the building taking place during homecoming of 2009. Pearl Hall was built with a gift from Centre trustee Robert Brockman, Class of 1963, and is named in memory of Brockman's mother and grandmother, who were both named Pearl. Pearl Hall houses 146 students, and has been certified LEED GOLD for its environmentally friendly design and construction.
Pearl Hall uses the "suite style" design for the student residence. In this living style, students each have their own room, while sharing a bathroom and common area with suite mates. In addition, each suite has a "convenience kitchen," which consists of a sink, microwave, and refrigerator. The suites in Pearl Hall are intended for use by upperclassmen.
