A multi-disciplinary index to periodicals that covers over 8,000 scholarly and popular periodicals, and includes full-text for more than 4,500 of these. Designed specifically for academic institutions, ASP spans most areas of study. Coverage varies, but most titles begin in the late 1980's and early 1990's.

Electronic version of the most comprehensive English language art encyclopedia. The articles range from brief entries to articles of several hundred pages, each accompanied by scholarly bibliographies. All aspects of the visual arts are covered, including painting, sculpture, architecture, graphic and decorative arts, and photography, from prehistory to the present.

A search engine that allows you to search a number of museums at once to locate digital images of an artist's works.
Arts and Humanities Search
An international interdisciplinary index to the literature of the arts and humanities. Although this is a citation database, there are links to Centre's e-journal holdings to locate the full-text if available. Coverage is from 1980 to the present.

A biographical dictionary of historic scholars, museum professionals and academic historians of art.
Getty Art and Architecture Thesaurus
The AAT is a structured vocabulary containing around 125,000 terms and other information about concepts. Terms in AAT may be used to describe art, architecture, decorative arts, material culture, and archival materials. The coverage of the AAT ranges from Antiquity to the present, and the scope is global.
Getty Provenance Index
Contain indexed transcriptions of material from auction catalogs and archival inventories of western European works of art. The databases contain over 900,000 records that cover the period from the late 16th century to the early 20th century.
Getty Union List of Artist Names
The ULAN is a structured vocabulary that contains around 220,000 names and other information about artists. The focus of each ULAN record is the artist. Linked to each record are names, relationships (including student-teacher relationships), locations (for birth, death, and activity), important dates (such as for birth and death), notes, and sources for the data.
Oxford Reference Online: Art & Architecture
Offers complete content of more than 125 titles from Oxford University Press. The collection includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, and reference works in more than 20 subject areas, including art and architecture.
VIA (Visual Information Access)
Harvard's VIA (Visual Information Access) is "a growing online union catalog documenting the arts, material culture, and social history. VIA contains descriptive records and images representing paintings, sculpture, photography, drawings, prints, architecture, decorative arts, trade cards, rubbings, theater designs, maps and plans. Participating repositories include archives, museums, libraries, and other collections throughout Harvard University. New material added daily.
