Searching for Library Resources

Combined Author/Title option
quickest way to find an item if you know the author and title
use the Author or Title options only if you know the exact forms
Subject option
yields only items catalogued under prescribed subject headings (ie Library of Congress headings). if you are not familiar with these, use:
Keyword option (words from the title.....)
usually yields more hits as it searches the author, subject headings ,titles and series

language and linguistics

  • Academic Search Premier
    A multi-disciplinary index to periodicals that covers over 8,000 scholarly and popular periodicals, and includes full-text for more than 4,500 of these. Designed specifically for academic institutions, ASP spans most areas of study. Coverage varies, but most titles begin in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
  • ERIC (Ebsco)
    Journal articles and reports in education. A guide to published and unpublished sources on education. ERIC includes some full-text documents at no charge.
  • JSTOR
    Full-text back files of core scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Note: coverage varies by title, but the most recent 2-5 years is not available.
  • OmniFile Full Text Mega
    Wilson OmniFile Full Text Mega is a multi-disciplinary database providing the complete content - indexing, abstracts, and full text - from six of Wilson's full-text databases: Education Full Text, General Science Full Text, Humanities Full Text, Readers' Guide Full Text, Social Sciences Full Text, and Wilson Business Full Text. Full-text articles from five additional periodical databases are also included when available: Applied Science & Technology Full Text, ArtFull Text, Biological & Agricultural Index, Index to Legal Periodicals & Books, and Library Literature & Information Science Full Text.
