Centre Goalie Named SCAC Player of the Week

DANVILLE, KY - Centre College goalkeeper Blake Malone (Columbia, Tenn.) has been named player of the week in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Malone recorded his sixth shutout of the season in last Saturday's 2-0 victory over Maryville College.

The Centre school record is ten shutouts in a season and is held by Centre assistant coach Jeb Burch. Burch has lots of praise for Malone: "Blake has made many big saves. He has a knack for making the save at important moments in a game and that is why we are winning. Confidence radiates from him and our team feels good with Blake in goal. He's just extremely steady and consistent."

Malone is allowing less than one goal per game. His current for goals against him per game is 0.4.

The Centre soccer team is ranked 11th in the nation and second in the tough South Central Region. The Colonels will put their 10-0 record on the line this Friday as they entertain Trinity University (San Antonio, Texas) at 4:30 p.m.
