DANVILLE, KY - Samuel B. Fee, an Ohio State University graduate with expertise in computer-based instruction, has been named coordinator of instructional technology at Centre College. The position is new at Centre and is part of the college's current thrust to enhance technology in the classroom.

Fee holds bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Ohio State University, where he also has worked as a systems analyst and a systems engineer. In his most recent position at OSU, he coordinated grant applications and research projects devoted to distance learning and multimedia technologies.

Fee has an active interest in archaeology and currently serves as director of education for on-going excavations sponsored by Ohio State at Isthmia in Greece. He will return to Greece for excavations this summer and hopes to develop a related travel-study program for Centre students.

Earlier this year, Fee was a contributor to a book about technology and visual literacy published by University Park press. He has published a CD-ROM and created a website about the Isthmia site, and he also has edited a series of CD-ROM's for the U.S. Department of Education

regarding math and science curricular issues.

In addition to his administrative appointment at Centre, Fee join the faculty as visiting assistant professor of education.

Commenting on Fee's appointment, Centre Vice President for Academic Affairs John Ward said: "Sam Fee brings to the Centre community the kind of skills and experience that will help us rapidly expand our ability to use technology as a tool for teaching. He appreciates our commitment to small classes and a personal approach to teaching, as well as our emphasis on the liberal arts, and we're excited about hearing his ideas for appropriate ways to use technology in this setting. Dr. Fee's research interests in archaeology fit nicely with a growing interest at Centre in excavation and discovery. Thus, he is a welcome addition to our faculty as well as to the Informational Technology staff."
