Dan Stroup tapped for leadership post at Centre College

DANVILLE, KY- Dan Stroup, a member of the Centre College faculty since 1976, has been named division chair for the college's academic programs in the social sciences. Stroup will continue teaching as professor of government at the college but will also work with the vice president for academic affairs to give leadership for academic programs in fields including history, international relations, economics and sociology.

Centre has three academic divisions, and each division chair serves on an academic council at the college.

Stroup graduated magna cum laude from the University of Dayton (B.A.) and holds master's and doctoral degrees in government from the University of Virginia. His teaching and research interests encompass American political history, the judicial process, the legislative process and the Civil Rights movement in America.

Stroup has published articles in journals including Valparaiso Law Review and PS: Political Science and Politics, as well as a segment of The Kentucky Encyclopedia.

In the greater Danville community, Stroup has been active in the parents association of the Danville Montessori School as well as local observances of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
