Centre Softball Player Earns SCAC Honor

DANVILLE, KY -- Sara Wicke, a freshman catcher from Knoxville, Tenn., has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for games through March 28.

Wicke is the second successive Centre College player to win the honor. Second baseman Summer Milliner of Bowling Green was last week's choice.

The daughter of William and Janet Wicke of Knoxville, Wicke hit .600 the week of March 21 with two doubles. For the season, she is hitting .526 (10 for 19) and is among the SCAC leaders in hits and doubles per game. She also has four stolen bases.

A biology major at Centre, Wicke is a graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School. This is the first season that softball has been an official Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference sport.
