New sorority sets weekend installation ceremony Centre will officially launch a new sorority this weekend when national representatives of Alpha Delta Pi visit campus to install a chapter at the college. The installation culminates more than a year of planning by Centre students and administrators, who sought to add an additional sorority due to overwhelming growth in the existing three sororities at Centre. A team of students and administrators evaluated several national sororities and chose Alpha Delta Pi on the basis of its commitment to scholarship, community service and diversity. Alpha Delta Pi was founded in 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Georgia and has 131 collegiate chapters in the United States and Canada. The existing sorority chapters at Centre are Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma. - end -
