Released: Jan. 21, 2000

DANVILLE, KY -- Everyone's favorite orphan girl, Annie, is coming to the stage of Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts on Monday, Jan. 31. The show begins at 8 p.m. in Newlin Hall.

The performance is part of the 1999-2000 Off-Centre series at the Norton Center. Tickets went on sell Monday, Jan. 10, and a limited number of tickets remained as of Jan. 21. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or patrons may call 606-236-4692.

One of the world's most beloved musicals, Annie is the story of how one girl's undying optimism and unrelenting spunk touch the lives of everyone around her, sparking hope and joy. Featuring such well-loved songs as "Tomorrow," "N.Y.C.," and "Easy Street," Annie has inspired a major motion picture, a 20th-anniversary tour, and a sequel. One song, "It's the Hard Knock Life," recently received its own revival when hip-hop artist Jay-Z used the song on his track, "Hard Knock Life."

The Norton Center for the Arts is a regional performing arts center that annually brings to Centre College a series of important musical groups, Broadway shows, individual performances, and other works from the performing arts.
