Centre's Arauz named to Academic All-District team

DANVILLE, KY - Tony Arauz, a senior soccer player from Louisville, has been named to the GTE Academic All-District second team for his achievements last fall on the soccer team.

Arauz, a midfielder, who is majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology major, has a 3.6 grade point average. He was chosen for a prestigious summer research internship at the Harvard Medical School and completed advanced research at Centre with Professor Joe Workman.

On the soccer field, Arauz was a four-year starter and captain of the team his senior year.

The Colonels were 15-4 overall, 7-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Their performance earned them a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) post-season tournament.
