College announces coaching appointments

 

DANVILLE, KY - Centre College has named new assistant coaches in several varsity sports. Shire Morgan, a stellar player for the Centre women's soccer team 1995-98, will become the graduate assistant for women's soccer. Jay Hoffman, a starter for the Centre men's soccer team 1992-95, will volunteer as an assistant soccer coach this year, and Tom Brown, recently retired principal of Boyle County High School, will become a part-time coach in football and track at the college.

Morgan earned all-conference honors in soccer for three years as Centre's starting midfielder. She has worked with the AmericaCorps program since graduating in 1999. Her twin sister, Sara, also a former Centre standout, served as graduate assistant at the college during the past year.

Hoffman earned all-conference honors as a midfielder during his playing career at Centre. He also was a team tricaptain. Hoffman is a teacher in the Boyle County Schools.

Brown volunteered his time with the Centre football team last year, working with scout teams and the kickers. He is expected to assume comparable duties this year with the Centre football program and will additionally assist with track and field.
