Centre Panhellenic Council wins highest award for excellence DANVILLE, KY- Centre College's Panhellenic Council won the top award at the February Mid-American Greek Council Association award ceremony in Chicago. Centre was one of over 40 schools present from the mid-west. The Panhellenic Council won the Sutherland Award for Overall Council Excellence, the highest overall award. The council also won in all eight categories of the Individual Programming Excellence Awards, which included academic achievement, leadership/educational development, risk management, self governance and judicial affairs, membership recruitment, public relations, community service and council management. In addition, the Panhellenic Council received the National Panhellenic Conference Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Scholarship Programming. Centre's Interfraternity Council also received recognition in the areas of academic achievement and community service. Centre has four sororities and six fraternities. Centre is a selective liberal arts college and will host the only vice presidential debate at the Norton Center for the Arts on Oct. 5, 2000. - end -
