Roush appointed to NCAA Presidents Council RELEASED: Nov. 6, 2000 DANVILLE, KY - John Roush, president of Centre College, has been elected to the Presidents Council in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He is one of 15 college presidents chosen from Division III institutions around the nationto serve on the council, which is one of the governing bodies of the NCAA. Roush takes office in January and will serve a four-year term. President of Centre since July 1, 1998, Roush was a stellar athlete at Ohio University and subsequently became a coach at Miami University. He moved into college and university administration at Miami and later at the University of Richmond, where he was vice president. Roush is the author of several recent essays and a book chapter on intercollegiate
athletics in the United States. Both of his sons have played collegiate
sports, one at Duke University and the other at Northwestern University. - end -
