Centre College softball players win conference honors

DANVILLE, KY - Berea Ernst, a Centre College freshman from Kettle, Ky., has been named Player of the Week for softball in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. She was 12 of 16 (.750) on the week and had one double. In addition, she gained three walks and one stolen base. When the Colonels took on Sewanee, Ernst went 9-11 (.818), allowing the Colonels to go up two games to one.

Senior Kara Jones of Springfield, Tenn., won Pitcher of the Week honors in the SCAC. Facing off against Sewanee, Jones pitched six innings and allowed only five hits in twenty-four at bats, plus one earned run. Her performance won the second game for the Colonels, who took the conference victory 11-2.

Currently Centre's record is 2-1 in the conference. Their next games will be March 11 and 12 versus Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute, Indiana.
